In this project, I imagined a scenario where BMore Art published a collection of their past issues as one book. They sought to publish a modern and eye-catching book with visually interesting, yet organized layouts and designs. In this project, I took the freedom to explore typography and create a design that expressed boldness and confidence.
Because the contents of BMore Art 10x originated from magazine issues, I looked at various cover designs for magazines. I also took inspiration from different types of printed advertisements and their type pairing. For the inner pages of the book, I took note of the elements and layout from spreads (e.g the negative space, contrast of typography, captions, photographs etc.).
I started by creating a few sketches for book covers. Then, I created a few different typography systems, experimenting with various styles and values. A more contemporary and energetic style would speak to the modern and youthful artists featured in the issue, while a more classic and timeless design would emphasize the artists’ professional and lasting work.
